Environmental Remediation Services
Westwater has its roots in the environmental remediation sector including work on a wide variety of projects and with contaminants ranging from Phase I ESAs to fuel spills to radioactive waste to PFAS. Projects are typically performed to “old school” legal defensibility standards according to RCRA / CERCLA guidance
Environmental Market Sector Technical Experience Examples:
- Designed, executed, and reported environmental investigations for sites / projects including US EPA Superfund, RCRA, bulk & retail fuel distribution, mining, rail maintenance & fueling, PFAS-contaminated groundwater, and real estate due diligence.
- Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substance (PFAS) sampling and analysis with up to Level IV Data QC.
- Performed data review and designed source area identification investigations for multi-source, multi-plume chlorinated solvent investigation at urban 4000-acre mixed industrial, commercial and residential NPL site.
- Developed sampling programs for baseline oil and gas development (pre-fracking) studies.
- Performed Phase I and Phase II due-diligence Environmental Site Assessments for sites including retail developments, commercial and manufacturing facilities and industrial properties.
- Litigation support mineralogical/geochemical investigation.
- Managed all aspects of underground storage tank assessment, remediation, and closure.
- Developed field Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for international environmental consulting firm, personally authored SOPs for field documentation, aquifer testing, slug testing, and monitoring well development.
- Designed and executed novel forensic investigation of in-situ permeable reactive iron barrier groundwater treatment system; evaluated hydraulic, construction and geochemical issues before and after installation of supplemental pump & treat and in-situ bioremediation systems.
- Developed Sampling and Analysis Plan for 2.2 million cubic yard gold heap leach pile 3-D geochemical evaluation; also performed hydrogeologic analysis of fractured rock aquifer system, sampled soil, surface- and groundwater, and conducted stream gain-loss evaluation at Gilt Edge Mine Superfund Site.
